Run, Walk and Stroll at Club Manila East

During Sundays, I manage to get up early and have a run at Club Manila East Compound in Taytay Rizal. It is just near our house, so going there is just a 15 minute run (hmm, that would be around 3 Km already for me). The place is safe and it is well paved. There are runners and passerby alike in the area, but the place is very peaceful. It is where the municipal hall of Taytay is erected after all (i think, this is the only municipal hall in the country that stands on a private compound where public transpo is not allowed inside... how's that?).

Funny, there is a start and finish line.

Anyway, this is a good place to run and stretch those muscles. Many runners in this side of the metropolis do practice their runs in this area. In fact, i've seen some Kenyans running around the compound. There are also a bunch of bikers in the area. In fact, there are bike rental shop in the area. But the bikes they offer are the BMX-like and "Winter Sonata" bike (i don't know what you call it. I think those are Japanese bikes).

The place is also frequented by families. They usually go there with there car, and just park it on the street. Here, they stroll their kids and play with them (badminton, skateboard).
No, that's not my car..In fact, there is none.

Every Sunday, i usually run here with my nephew. He is already 14 years old, and is very much athletic than i am. Of course, he is always ahead of me when we are running. He still has the stamina and endurance to run long distance without experiencing fatigue.

This is my nephew

For me, i have to settle with running a few minutes, then walking for another few minutes, before running again for few minutes. That is just my cycle..... for now. hehe. Time will come, I know. With this routine every Sunday, i know i can survive. Hopefully, this every Sunday routine will be on a regular basis of three to four times a week - that is if time will permit.
Oops, one of my rest periodsssssssss...

Till the next Sunday...

Entry to Oldest Photo Contest

Photo taken on March 27, 1997. I'm the second from left. I remember the date very well because that was the first time I climbed the mountain which was just beside our house in Tanauan, Leyte. Also, there was an occasion in our house that i invited my friends over. It was then that we decided to climbed the mountain after our stroll in the beach. I was 12 at that time and a first year high school. We were wearing hip-hop pants and shirts (that was the in thing at that time) while climbing the mountain, Mt. Inapusong.

Long Hiatus

When can i run again?

Keeps asking myself for the past few days. Its been a while already. I've been busy the past few weeks. I have my work, and my other work. How i wish i could officially start and join the every Wednesday Run of ANR Ortigas. It just so happen that every Wednesday, if its not raining, i've got something to do. They always invite me for that every Wednesday run in Ortigas. Hmmm, when can i start kaya? I believe they have training as well that i could use for my supposed 10K or 21K run by end of year. Or, should i just keep on dreaming?

I just hope to run soon.

Rexona Run 5K Pics

As promised, i have to post my pics here during the Rexona Run last August 1, 2010 at SM Mall of Asia Grounds.

That day started with me waking up at around 3am. I still have to travel to Makati to meet my running buddies. We met at Ayala Columns (Dianne's Crib) then we all proceed to MOA. The race for the 5K run was to start at 5:40 am. As usual, we were late for about 10 mins at the gun start. Nevertheless, we managed to catch up the start of the 3K run. So we started our race from there. Only three of us started the race together since Paulo, run ahead of us while we were still looking for the baggage counter. Unfortunately, there was none.

The first 1k was a bit smooth. The three of us were running together. However, we decided to run on our own depending on our pace. So we were basically running alone the whole race. Hehe.

From 2K till the 4K, i was very much in the competitive mode. I was trying to beat my previous record. I was aiming of finishing the 5k at less than 30 mins. However, at Km 4, i was already very tired and a bit dizzy. I was catching up my breath. Good to know that there were water stations along the way. They also served Powerade. One thing new for me was the water sponge. That was nice. It kept me cool down in a way. Hoping to see more of these in the coming race.

Anyways, the last 5k was bit of a torture. I could see the finish line, but could not keep up. i have to alternately walk and run. well, that's what you really get from not enough training. Hehe.

The race venue

My watch says 35mins 12 seconds, but my chip time was 37 mins. Hmm...

At the the end, i finish the race at 37 mins. Not bad, though i was aiming for less than 30 mins, but that will come. Soon.

The gang

It was the birthday run of Nelson. There were a lot of freebies included in the loot bag, that we mistook it for a grocery bag. Hehe. There was also a free ice cream. That was nice.

After the race, we went to Seaside for our Brunch and to celebrate the birthday of Nelson. Happy Birthday Nelson.

Me after the run

Dreaming that someday, we'll be running 21K

Loot Bag contents ( a lot of shampoo)

With the birthday boy, Nelson

Till the next run.

After the Run

A day after the 5k Rexona Run, by whole body aches. Yes, from my lower back muscles down to my legs and toes. I guess i have stretched myself too much. But, its alright. I was able to beat by previous record. I run competitively. I was determined to have a personal best on this race. However, i still have a long way to go. I still needs a lot of practice. I have to run regularly to strengthen my stamina and endurance. I noticed that during the last 2k of the run, i was running out of breath. I was walking most of the time for the last 2k. But still, i managed to finish in around 35 mins on my personal watch. Not bad after being late at the gunstart for 10 minutes. Hehehe.

I still not had the chance to upload my pics and i'm also awaiting for the photovendo pictures, which are still not available online. Once i have those pictures, i will post them here along with the details of my run.

My next run will be on August 15 at the Run to Read. Can't wait for that. See you there!!

This would be my first run at MOA. I'll be running 5K. Thanks to Nelson for registering for me at MOA. The registration at Megamall and Glorietta were already closed so i have no choice but to let my friend register for me. Again, Thanks Nelson and Dianne.

Hope to enjoy it, and to beat my previous record. I'm targeting of finishing 5k in less than 30 minutes. i know i can. Hehe.

See you all there.

34th MILO MARATHON

Last July 4, the 34th Milo Marathon was held in Manila, and yes, I was there.

Me and my running buddies run the 5K. There were a lot of people who joined in the race, most of which are youngster (as in high school). The race was a bit crowded. You could not run as hell even if you want to. The participants were just so many that it was impossible to run straight. You have to make your way of the participants who were just there to stroll, walk, or worst take pictures. We also have our share of picture taking though. hehe.

On the good side, the Milo Marathon was a charitable event. They will give away shoes to kids to help them reach their dreams. Hear Yeah!!

Before gun start. See how crowded it is!

These are my running buddies (L-R) Nelson, Paulo, Dianne

These are my old folks. Anong batch nga ulit tayo nun?

After the run, we managed to have pictures taken at Luneta park. Hehe. Its Paulo's first time to be in Luneta. He had his picture taken with the statue as well.

Post like a PRO

We also had the chance to meet our long lost teacher. Hehe.
We miss you teacher AJ.

Hmm, where's next?
Wherever my shoes takes me, I'll be there. I don't walk barefoot.
